Prior to the opening of Stanton Central Park, the City had less than 1/3 of the parkland recommended for a City its size!  In addition, most of the areas classified as “parks” were on Southern California Edison property and restricted mainly to grass. With this, and the goals of the residents in mind, it became one of the City’s missions to develop new parkland for its residents that provided a wide range of park facilities and uses. The City was committed to correcting the parkland deficiency in a fiscally responsible way that would use all available sources of funds for park development without using the City's General Fund, which is dedicated to providing vital daily services to its residents.

The result of this commitment is a beautiful facility, sitting on more than 11.5 acres of parkland, in the center of the City, filled with endless opportunities for active play; gathering spots for families; space for community events, concerts, and celebrations; and recreation activities for Stanton citizens of all ages.
